On a faithful day of 37℃ last week, I had encountered what they say “Just like the boys”… INVINCIBLE. I binge through all the episodes that day and the truth finally revealed before me. A truth that was fairly obvious and when I was done with it, I wanted for more. I wanted to be done with the story and start fresh when the second season arrives. So for the week, I searched through story arcs and character and what I found is as follows.
Omni man flew out of earth’s orbit leaving a drop of tear, after breaking Debbie Grayson’s heart and Mark Grayson’s body in all the wrong places. His sudden turn had left earth in a state of shock and in immediate threat against extraterrestrial powers far greater than it had ever encountered. It didn’t take long for the faith of earth to wear down on Mark’s shoulders. Life goes on as grief wears down. Subsequently, we met Angstrom Levy. One of the most recurring villains in the series and Mark’s greatest arch-enemy who has the power of interdimensional travel and who blames his disfigurement on Mark.
Angstrom Levy
Years passed like the life of a superhero. On a mission to a planet of Crickets, Thraxa, Mark eventually met his father. After abandoning earth, and wondering in the cosmos, he arrived at that planet and did exactly what it did on earth. Fall in love (with the queen of that planet), had a child, and became their savior. Because he left his post on earth, he had committed treason in the laws of Viltrumites and they are searching for him to execute him. As he has settled down in his new life, It will not be long before they find him there. And they did. Nolan asked mark to help him in this inevitable battle against his own race. Three Viltrumites appeared on that planet and a devastating battle began. Mark was a little to no use as his fist hurts just for punching their skin. Thousands of Cricket aliens died. Nolan fought alone and nearly killed one of them. He was beating the other two in a simultaneous fight when the first one came with a deadly attack and snapped Nolan’s spine in half.
But the Viltrumites left after making Mark the new ambassador of Earth for the Viltrumite empire. The queen of the crickets asked Mark to take Nolan’s child, his half-brother to earth, as the cricket race age much faster than humans and the child will have no family in a span of months. So Mark took the child to his family and his mother named him Oliver.
Oliver Grayson
Among many encounters, Mark came face to face with Lavy who kidnapped Mark’s mother and made Mark go through multiple alternate dimensions. Which left the earth without a protector and the earth goes to ruin.
The future guardians of the globe find Mark with the help of Robot and approach him through a time portal. And Grandma Eve confessed to Mark that she had always loved him. Mark had been struggling through his emotions for Eve and with that final hammer to the nail, he finally goes back to earth, breaks up with his girlfriend, and kisses Eve.
Many incidents on the television adaptation, like the mars invasion or the robot corpse army of Cecil, took place at this time.
One day, when Mark and Debbie were having lunch, a female Viltrumite named Anissa came to visit Mark to remind him of his duty for the Viltrumite empire. An argument took place where Anissa tried to realize to Mark what a Utopia will it be if Earth surrenders. That argument soon turns into a vicious battle. She asked Mark one last time if he was willing to come to the Viltrumite side. Mark refused and Anissa lost her patience. With a light warning filled with attacks, she reminded Mark that he didn't have a choice in this matter. That he has no idea how much danger he was in. And that another agent will come to check on his progress in either five months or five years. She left, hoping that Mark realized the danger before then.
In a turn of events, Mark confronted Cecil for his army of the dead, and Cecil told him that he never trusted him and unleashed the army on him. This attack showed that INVINCIBLE’s weakness is his equilibrium. That Cecil can kill him any time. Mark escapes with the help of the guardian of the globe and cuts his involvement with Cecil.
Mark and Oliver came to a crossroads when Oliver started killing Villains as it would prevent their recurrence. Around this time, Angstrom Levy came back with alternate INVINCIBLEs from various parallel dimensions. This was the attack that brutally injured Eve and devastated Earth with the death of many heroes. On the third day, 8 evil Mark were killed and only 8 have survived. They looked pleased after destroying many of the cities including Tokyo, Sydney, Paris, and Seattle. Angstrom arrives at the eight alive Marks and asks them to bring his reality’s Mark. They refuse and he was stranded in the previous dimension he was supposedly killed in. Mark, Oliver, and Bulletproof find him. Angstrom launches his orbs at the trio and knocks two of them back. Mark crushes an orb after he launched into him. Mark grabs his neck and Oliver insists that Mark kill Angstrom since he has caused all this damage. Mark attempts to kill him, but he escapes through a dimensional portal. Before he does, Mark tears his forearm off. On the fourth day, many homes and areas were destroyed by the attack. Mark looks in horror at the carnage caused by his alternate versions.
As if that wasn’t enough, the earth was visited by another Viltrumite. This time an all known carnage machine Conquest, who only wants Mark to fail so he can kill him. A massive battle took place between Conquest and Mark and Eve. Eve was killed with a punch through her guts and supposed dead. In a fury of rage, Mark attacked Conquest while Eve’s body regenerated itself and released a massive source of energy onto him, damaging half of his limbs while Mark kills him with headbutts after headbutts. As you can see, there’s a crack on his forehead. So it must be his weak spot.
Conquest
Conquest’s head was preserved by Cecil to study the biology of the Viltrumites. After recovering, Mark tells Oliver that he will no longer hesitate to kill his enemies.
David Anders aka Dinosaurus stopped Mark from fixing the destruction of the cities destroyed in the Invincible War. Dinosaurus argued that Invincible fixing the cities meant that the economy wouldn't go into Superdrive because their abilities allow them to rebuild what was already harmful to the climate. Mark easily defeated Dinosaurus, reverting him back to his human form. Mark questioned whether he would kill him or not. The Guardians arrived and took him into custody.
Dinosaurus
In order to get more answers about the Viltrumites, Cecil made a fake copy of Conquest’s body to show Invincible. He encased him in a 400-ton prison in the Mojave Desert. Days later, Conquest fully healed from his injuries and easily escaped into space. Nolan came back to earth with the alien Allen and asked for mark’s help in a war against Viltrumites. They leave for “coalition of worlds” with a bunch of other heroes but they were stopped by Conquest and two other Viltrumites. Again, a deadly and bloody war broke but this time Mark killed Conquest for good while he himself was wounded beyond repair for the technologies of earth.
Mark and his father Nolan recovered on an alien planet and when they finally arrived at the coalition of worlds, they find it was already under attack by the leader of Viltrumites, Thragg. It is revealed that Thragg has an inside spy in the Coalition of Planets, and has tasked him to take down the planetary barrier on Talescria. Afterward, he would speak to the skull of the former Emperor of Viltrum, Argall. He states that Argall will be avenged after Thaedus is dead. He retreats from Talescria after Mark and Oliver destroy his warship. He rushes into battle, hoping to fight back, but decides against it. He and the other Viltrumties retreat to Viltrum. When the Coalition arrives, he leads the Viltrumite charge. In the beginning, Thragg attacks Space Racer and Mark rushes to attack him. Mark lands on blow on Thragg, but has no effect on him. He smacks Mark away for Oliver to attempt to attack him. He catches Oliver’s punch and dismembers his arm, while breaking his jaw, nearly killing Oliver in the process. INVINCIBLE, enraged, attacks Thragg with Thragg only getting a nosebleed. Thragg mocks him stating that he is in over his head and Conquest fears him. Mark reveals that he killed Conquest previously and now he will kill Thragg. After Thaedus, Mark, and Nolan destroy Viltrum, Thragg becomes enraged and cries. Thragg angrily states that Thaedus destroyed Viltrumite heritage, history, and the planet itself. Thaedus offers him a chance to surrender, but Thragg refuses. He rushes towards Thaedus and decapitates him, and declares that Lord Argall is now avenged.

The Viltrumites were repealed by the joint forces of the world and the destined war on Viltrum took place. In that battle, Viltrumite’s planet was destroyed. But the formidable forces remained. As revenge, Thragg beat Mark and Nolan nearly to death, but they weren’t killed. Mark feared it was to let them witness Earth’s destruction, but that wasn’t the case. When mark arrived on Earth, he finds Thragg with a truce. Thragg decides to surrender but on one condition, the Viltrumites take over Earth. Mark loses his temper but Thragg goes into detail about the takeover. Thragg states the Viltrumites will hide among humans and interbreed with them, replenishing their ranks. Thragg goes on to say that the Viltrumite will not interfere with human events and the closest to pure-blooded Viltrumites are Viltrumite/Human hybrids. Mark refuses at first but reluctantly accepts. Thragg thanks the duo for ensuring Viltrumite survival and leaves, ending the Viltrumite War.
When he met Eve, she told him that while he was gone, Eve was pregnant and had to abort it.
Meanwhile Allen the scientist tried to develop a deadly virus, The Scourge Virus, that had once killed the Viltrumites. But a virus such as this can kill everyone on earth as well.
In Las Vegas, Mark encountered Dinosaurus once again. Who destroyed Vegas completely. This is the time when Mark goes in search of his morality and started to question everything that eventually leads him to be more confused and impulsive. When Mark saw Dinosaurus’s destruction has brought some good to the world, he helped Dinosaurus break from the pentagon. Which made Mark an enemy of the nation.
Alan comes to earth with The Scourge Virus and told Mark about his plan. This leads to a conflict between the two as they fight to the bitter end, but unfortunately, the virus was unleashed on Mark, who didn’t die but went into a critical state.
Thragg was shocked by Mark’s survival and after an investigation found that Mark and Nolan are the descendants of Viltrunite’s supreme leader lord Argyll. who is now dead. After their emperor, Argall was killed by Thaedus. Thragg fought in the Viltrumite civil war, meaning Thragg is thousands of years old. After the battle, The Viltrumites would emerge an unbeatable race led by him. Thragg would be granted the title of Grand Regent, tasked with finding the heir of Argall.
When Thragg found out about the truth from a scientist, he was interrupted by Dinosaurus hacking and gaining access to his quarters. Thragg leaves to see Mark and attempts to kill Mark, not wanting to give away his title of Grand Regent. Dinosaurus unleashes a surprise attack on him, only breaks his claws in the process, and Thragg unharmed. Dinosaurus reveals that he sent explosions around the ship to correspond to his low heartbeat. Thragg pummels him and throws him aside after hearing an explosion. Dinosaurus attempts to bite Thragg, shattering his teeth in the process. Thragg breaks Dinosaurus’s jaw and flies to fix the explosion. He heads back and sees Atom Eve asking where Mark is. Eve attempts to battle Thragg, but Thragg laughs and directs her to Dinosaurus. After the invasion of London by the Flaxans, Thragg reprimands Kregg for interfering with the events. Kregg states that he is sorry but someone there carries his child. Kregg then reveals that he loves all dozen of his mates, much to Thragg’s disgust. Thragg calls a meeting of the Viltrum Empire and enforces that they are not to interfere with Mark and Dinosaurus's events or they will be killed by him. Thragg would reprimand Lucan, Kregg, and Anissa for not obeying his orders. After being disgusted with Lucan and Kregg's affection towards humans, he demands that they leave. Thragg arrives goes to the other side of the moon and sees Nolan with his wife. Thragg becomes enraged seeing him and rushes to attack him. While their battle continues, Thragg reveals to Nolan that he is Argall's son. Nolan refuses to fight him and Thragg severely injures his attempts to finish him off until he is interrupted by Kregg, Anissa, Lucan, and Thula. After finding out that Nolan is Argall’s son, they turn on Thragg and attempt to kill him until Nolan asks them to spare him. Thragg is then imprisoned and argues with Nolan. Thragg demands that Nolan kill him if he fears him. Nolan refuses and says that he will change the Viltrumites' brutal ways instead. Nolan would sentence Thragg to exile, much to Thragg’s surprise.
When Mark recovered from his injury he finds Dinosaurus who had been working with him, had killed thousands of people in his way of cleansing the earth. After encountering Mark, Dinosaurus broadcasted that he has killed Mark in half. Which later revealed to be a clone while he put Mark in a state of coma.
When mark wakes up, he tries to talk to Dinosaurus and a series of discussions make Dinosaurus believe that he has a god complex. He asks mark to kill him as mercy, which Mark did.
Soon after, Angstrom again attacked Mark, captured Eve, and put Mark in an alternate dimension which version of INVINCIBLE had turned cannibal. This time, Eve talks with Angstrom and questions his vague resolution and puts some sense into him. This ark is all about talking with your enemy to lower the destruction and make them suicidal. Because after all, villains are heavily depressed and misled creatures.
Angstrom came to his senses and freed Mark. But as he opened the portal, an alternate INVINCIBLE grabbed Angstrom and took him to his own dimension. Robot tracks Angstrom down and he and Mark went. On that dimension, Mark finds that that version of INVINCIBLE had made Angstrom immobilize and using his power to spread his empire. Mark relieved with his nemesis gone but then Robot betrays them. The information of INVINCIBLE’s equilibrium made Robot to active a device, based on the earpieces Cecil installs into Guardian of the Globe ears, contained in his suit that disrupts Viltrumite ears, stunning both versions of INVINCIBLE in inconceivable pain. Robot shoots an explosive device down the throat of the parallel version of Invincible, killing him after a few seconds by causing his head to explode. He then moves his focus to Angstrom and cuts his head off, killing the villain instantly. Mark asks why Robot is doing what he is doing, with Robot telling his former friend that he has big plans for the future and that being the hero he is, INVINCIBLE would only get in the way of them. Robot tells INVINCIBLE that to counter this, he will be leaving the hero in the parallel dimension, saying because of their long history, he is unable to kill him. Robot leaves through a portal back to his own dimension, leaving a confused Invincible stranded in the parallel dimension, somewhat mirroring Robot and Monster Girl's fates in the Flaxan dimension. Which is one of Robot’s extended ark.
It took months for Mark to get to his home dimension and when he arrived he found Eve had moved on.
After dealing with the issues on Earth, Robot continues to speak with the Viltrumites on the Moon. Robot informs them that he knows of their low population problem and their plans to use Earth as a breeding ground as a means to increase their population numbers. He elaborates by informing the Viltrumites that while he is sure they would be able to eventually defeat his drone forces, they would lose numerous people in their own ranks while doing so. He offers the Viltrumites an alternative solution to this dilemma, stating that they should work together in order to form a mutually beneficial partnership. The Viltrumites accept Robot's deal and agree to work with him. Invincible, however, soon attacks Robot's drone suit, only to be stopped by Omni-Man who informs the superhero that they need to talk. Robot uses Invincible's momentary distraction as a chance to get his drone suit out of harm and back to Earth.
Anissa returned to earth again and found Mark. She was being lovely and ladylike but Mark ignored her completely. She stopped him by telling him about the Viltrumite mission of procreating with humans and how she wasn't performing on her end. Mark attempts to leave, but Anissa stops him. She began to tell him about her refusal to mate with humans. She told him that even though he was young and weak, she’d settle on mating with him because of his Viltrumite heritage. Mark refused her and flew off, citing that he is still with Eve. Anissa attacks him to stop his flight. Mark asks her to leave him alone, saying that he didn't want to fight. She retorted that she didn't want to fight either, but she couldn't stall the mission, citing that Nolan may not be as forceful as Thragg, but the mission remained. She attempts to seduce Mark, but he refuses her. She loses her patience and head-butted Mark. Mark asks her to leave him be, but she refuses and charges. Mark lightly fought her off, hoping that she would leave him be. Anissa wasn't swayed, but much rather enjoying the battle. She caught Mark's punch, noticing that he was stronger than before. She used her superior strength to overpower him and the duo crash on an unknown farm, with her laying on top of Mark. She pushed back his arms and demanded that he stop resisting her. Then… She raped him. The incident that haunts Mark for the rest of his life.
Robot starts his attack. He kills Cecil and cuts Eve’s leg off which made Mark retreat to a Viltrunite ship where his father is at. There Eve gives birth to a girl.
Robot attacked the whole earth killing all the heroes, but his ultimate plan was to turn earth into a Utopia. Mark tries to stop Robot but was easily outmatched by Robot’s droid army. Robot explains to INVINCIBLE that no matter what he thinks, by gaining control over the world he is making it a much safer place. Robot manages to talk down INVINCIBLE and get him to surrender peacefully, successfully eliminating the last threat in the path to control over Earth. Robot later encounters INVINCIBLE again trying to save a mother and her child. The drones neutralize the threat and Robot begins to talk to INVINCIBLE about how things have changed. Asking if he has noticed things have been for the better, he asks if INVINCIBLE has come to his senses and wants to work with him. INVINCIBLE flies off and left Earth for good.
Among aliens, Mark and Eve’s new life began. Mark was sent to the planet Thraxa to investigate if Thragg is making an army of half bread Viltrunites. But instead, Mark encountered an extraterrestrial being of light and tentacles that sent Mark five years in his past to right the wrongs of his life. Series of events unfolded, but Mark finally declined as he fears this might change his chance to have a family with Eve.
When he returned he found five years had passed and his daughter had grown up. The family decides to went on vacation, but they were attacked by Thragg and his two half bread children. While Mark was in his coma for five years, Thragg was rebuilding the ranks of the Viltrum Empire and all of his children have reached adolescence. He makes a move on Talescria by having his daughter, Ursaal attack one of their major buildings. Later, he breaks up a skirmish between his son Onann and Ursaal. Oliver, acting as a double agent for Thragg, asks to meet him in person. Thragg, in the meantime, kills some Rognarrs in front of his other children and then orders Onann and Ursaal to kill Mark Grayson. Thragg calls Oliver again to inform him that he has located Mark and that he will kill him and his family, despite Oliver's wishes. Thragg arrives and grabs Terra. As she struggles against Thragg, Oliver intervenes, allowing her to escape. After a short battle, Thragg impales Oliver and kills him in front of Terra. Mark holds Onann hostage asking that Thragg let him go. Mark kills Onann and begins attacking Thragg. Thragg gains the other hand and rips Mark in half while Ursaal seemingly kills Eve. He leaves Terra to die.
Eve’s power again came to work when she revived herself and restored Mark. Knowing they will never have a normal life, they finally decided to get married.
The collision of worlds along with Viltrumites joined their forces once again against Thragg and his army of thousand Children. This was the final battle of the series and the scale of destruction and casualty was massive. Both sides fell like flies until the children saw their father for what he really was. He let his children die for the sake of his revenge, which made the children abandon him.
Thragg and Nolan fought and Nolan was beaten to the brink of death.
Mark and Thragg fought their final battle on the surface of the sun and Mark finally defeated and destroyed him. But the consequences of the battle burned mark completely. When he returned, he finds Nolan breathing his last breaths and the two shared a warm moment.
The series ended with Mark turning the Viltrumite army into the benevolent beings that his father had once told him. Mark finds his Son named Markus Murphy, that Anissa had had with him, and named him the new protector of earth.
And the story stopped stretching.
[Wow! that took a lot of me and totally wasn’t worth it. I found myself pretty bored and used shortcuts.]
